With Virtual Anthropologist, users can run searches using natural language queries, eliminating the need for pre-determined search parameters. The platform intelligently interprets the query to identify the most relevant cultural discussions and trends.
Unlike traditional research tools that require specific keywords, the Virtual Anthropologist allows users to ask questions in plain language, making research more intuitive and accessible.
Structuring an Effective Query
To maximize the effectiveness of a search, it is recommended to:
- Frame queries around consumer beliefs, behaviors, and cultural shifts.
- Use broad, open-ended questions instead of narrow or leading ones.
- Example: Instead of searching for “trends in plant-based protein,” a more effective query would be: “How do consumers perceive plant-based protein?”
You can see a guide to effective query structure here.
Example Question Formats
The structure of a question impacts the results that are returned. Here are some examples:
- Behavioral questions: How do consumers discuss changing their schedule because of X?
- Context questions: How do consumers talk about X in the context of Y?
- Joy point questions: What do consumers like about X?
- Key features / attribute questions: What aspects of [product or category] are consumers discussing?
- Meaning questions: What does X mean to consumers?
- Motivation questions: What motivates consumers to prioritize X?
- Occasion questions: When or under what circumstances do consumers think about X?
- Pain points / competitor questions: What do consumers dislike about X?
Selecting a demographic group
There are two methods for focusing research on specific demographic groups. We recommend combining both methods.
- Adding the demographic group to the question.
- Example: How do Gen Z consumers discuss financial independence?
- Filtering the data.
- Users can apply demographic filters to refine results and boost topics of conversation associated with a specific group.
