Available Socio-demographic groups
Lux for Consumer Insights can focus on a specific socio-demographic group available in our modelling, with the following exceptions:
- Income level of $350K+
- “Mixed” ethnicity
- Trans, nonconforming, or other
We cannot filter these groups because their populations are too small compared to our margin of error, and therefore the system cannot reliably boost those conversations.
Lux for Consumer Insights can focus our research on a specific socio-demographic group, specific limits. First, it needs to be a socio-demographic category we report on and model. Second, it’s important to understand that we never isolate a group, because culture exists in the interaction between people of multiple socio-demographic backgrounds online.
When we focus our study on a specific socio-demographic group, does not remove other voices—instead, it boosts the visibility of topics most relevant to that group while maintaining the broader cultural conversation. In other words, we do not eliminate every voice that falls outside of the selected socio-demographic category. Instead, we ensure all conversations studied include the chosen socio-demographic group.
