What happens when I filter searches by demographic groups?

Our algorithm boosts topics that match the selected demographic skew in our universe of topics. The algorithm then recalculates the result.

We do not completely omit topics that do not match the selected demographic skew because our Predictive Anthropology Platform ultimately conducts a cultural analysis of topics and trends. None of these topics exist in isolation to one socio-demographic group. Unlike monitoring tools that focus on posts around the selected demographic, our Predictive Anthropology Platform analyzes culture and needs to understand the impact of different demographic groups on one another.

However, it is extremely useful as a way to ensure that the topics most relevant to a particular demographic are prioritized in the algorithm. This way, when you click on them and explore their meanings, you can be assured that you won't miss the content that is most relevant to your demographic.

For example, if you search for self-care, and the 45+ demographic is pre-selected:

Here, you will notice the topics are all about decompressing after tough days and finding time for hobbies, chores, and your passions amid a hectic life schedule.

Compare this to the next image where a younger (18-44) demographic is selected:

Here, we find a greater emphasis on taking breaks throughout the day, not pushing yourself too hard by setting small goals, and developing healthy coping mechanisms like exercise instead of possibly unhealthy ones.

This tool is very effective in helping us easily see the meanings that are more relevant to certain demographics of interest.
